Name: The Vault

Lasted: Eight months

Popularity: 7/10

When Steve Harmon first created this site. It was a one of a kind, recently a few others have followed in his footsteps. But believe me, he's the main pioneer. His website lasted only eight months (thats an eternity when compared to other dbz sites) this site started sort of slow but with the support of planetnamek etc. it became very popular. Mainly to us webmasters, why? Well he did interviews of the owners of some of the largest dbz websites out there and a few other people who grabbed the attention of dbz-ers on the net.

Interviews were just about the only content of this site. But people just kept coming back. The reason is most likely because he kept pumping out interviews as fast as humanly possible. Not to mention the interviews were very well put together and many times added comic relief. This site will definately be missed.

Litterally one of the first DBZ sites I visited and while it was never really anything spectacular it always held something special for me. It's a sad thing to see a site like this one dissappear. Probably one of the longer running sites out on the net it had everything from original movie clips (which were harder to come by in those days) to impressive images. The layout was relatively simple and yet it was fun to navigate around the site in.

Since my sites simple beginnings I tried to maintain that idea of a simple yet effective way of navigating around a site. This site will be personally missed.

Name: Planet Namek

Lasted: 4 years

Popularity: 9.5/10

After 4 long years the most popular Dragonball Z site that ever existed finally died. Nevertheless it has left it's mark on many over the years. A website that started out as a mere IP address scaled to be a powerful .com influence in the DBZ internet community. A site with news, info, media and almost everything you could imagine. This site died for many reasons but some of the most important were costs and lack of interest by the administrators.

Even my site was affected greatly by this site. Shortly after my site started I required need of space for my files Planetnamek graciously granted me what I needed for a month or two and they really helped me out. Over the years though the site had started to receive some critisizm for it's views on the Dragonballz dub and other controversial issues(*cough* fansubs *cough*) but it's popularity remained consistent which was really the problem all along. With popularity comes use of bandwidth....and during a .com internet advertising drop this was exactly what this site DIDNT need as I have experienced this myself which I believe is what really lead to it's eventual demise.

When I asked Mr. E(the owner of PN.com) if he would ever do another website again even if it was non-dbz he replied with "*SHRUG*" so whatever that means.......
